It’s almost guaranteed that you’ve been getting mega obsessed with Pokemon GO over the last couple of weeks and if you haven’t already you will be… soon.
However, even if you are the biggest fan of the game you still probably have no idea who Jason Paige is.
He may not be a household name, but you’ll definitely recognise his voice if you grew up watching the animated series.
Jason sang the incredibly epic theme song for the U.S. version of the Pokemon cartoon.
So, after the insane success of gaming crack Pokemon GO, he decided to upload a video of him performing the song in the studio and it’s absolute perfection.
It seems that he still wants to be the very best, like no-one ever was.
Just for reference, this is the original version back in 1998:
It’s almost like nothing has changed and we’re still totally living in the late nineties where it definitely isn’t possible to catch an Abra on the toilet.
My head says it’s lip-synced, my heart says he’s still smashing it 18 years on after he first recorded the theme song.
Probably the saddest thing about this whole situation though, is the fact that Paige isn’t profiting from it’s resurgent popularity.
He received a one-time payment for his work, which means that despite Spotify plays sky-rocketing he won’t be seeing any royalties. Absolutely gutting.
At least he will rest knowing that this song will be stuck in our heads on loop while we’re catching our sixth Pidgey of the day.
