In the post-credits sequence of the 2016 film, Deadpool promises his adoring fans that Deadpool 2: Back in the Pool is going to feature Cable, the time-traveling son of Scott Summers and Madeline Pryor.
The obvious choices of Mel Gibson and Dolph Lundgren were mentioned, along with Avatar’s Stephen Lang and even Kiera Knightly – but who’s going to get the role?
Well, if you’ve ever wanted to see James Bond kicking ass in a Marvel movie, Deadpool 2 might make it happen.
The latest rumours have Pierce Brosnan in the mix to play Nathan Summers (aka Cable) in the upcoming sequel.
And it’s all because of a couple of Instagram posts uploaded by Hugh Jackman.
Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, Jackman, who plays Wolverine, and Bond legend Brosnan, who just might be playing Cable, can all be seen sitting together in a secret meeting.
Jackman captioned it with the hashtag ‘wolverinebonddeadpool’, while Reynolds wrote with his own photo ‘Wolvie. Bond. Wade.’
Notice the ‘hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil’ pose? Looks like they might be hiding an X-men-related secret from us.
There’s no official confirmation from 20th Century Fox about Brosnan actually taking up the role, but in the meantime, it’s still a pretty cool rumour.
