The first trailer for IT: Chapter Two has finally dropped, and it is as terrifying as we hoped.
The 2017 adaptation of the popular Stephen King novel was a huge hit, both critically and commercially, so it wasn’t long until a sequel was commissioned.
Continuing the adaption of the book, the second chapter will be set in 2016, 27 years after the events of the first film, and will see the return of Bill Skarsgård as the horrifying clown Pennywise.
You can watch the trailer here:
The Losers Club are all grown up now, with the likes of James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader playing the characters as they are once again tormented.
Shortly after the sequel was announced, director Andy Muschietti, the man behind both chapters, teased fans saying things will be even scarier this time.
As reported by Screen Rant, during a panel at Cinema Con Muschietti warned the audience IT: Chapter Two is ‘going to be scarier and more intense,’ even advising them to bring their ‘adult diapers’ to the cinema.
The first one left me hiding behind my coat in fear, so I don’t think I could ever be prepared for the supposedly more frightening sequel.
It has already got the approval of horror legend Stephen King, who gave it the thumbs up over on Twitter.
He wrote:
Looking forward to IT CHAPTER 2? You should be. I’ve seen it, and it’s terrific. The trailer is coming Thursday, at noon. You’ll float.
We got our first glimpse at IT: Chapter Two last month when Muschietti shared an image of McAvoy as adult Bill Denbrough on Instagram.
The caption indicates how Bill has been left traumatised by Pennywise from his childhood, as Muschietti wrote:
And a happy belated birthday to the great James McAvoy who will thrust his f-f-fists against anything that moves in September 6.
In the build-up to the release of the trailer, cast members from the film have been sharing photos of themselves on social media, with a red balloon haunting them in the background, often hard to spot.
Here’s James McAvoy’s selfie:
Bill Hader also joined in the fun:
While Jessica Chastain shared a cute photo of her and dog Chaplin:

Due to the success of the first film, expectations and hopes are high, but we think Muschietti and his team will smash it once again.
IT: Chapter Two will float into cinemas on September 6, 2019.
