Calling all It’s Always Sunny fans (yes, I’m looking at you), the hit show will be back on our screens in no time at all and I can’t wait.

That’s because the cast have confirmed the fourteenth (!) season is currently being written and is well underway to being filmed.

Not only that, but the team are hoping to break the record for the longest-running live-action comedy series, which currently stands at 15 seasons.

Show creator and Paddy’s Pub’s own Mac, Rob McElhenney, shared a picture of him alongside fellow main cast members and writers/producers Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton inside Fox Studio Lot.

It seems Rob can’t wait to get back into filming, having previously posted another picture of him alongside Charlie and Glenn expressing his excitement that ‘Week one of the writers room [is] down’.

This time, the 42-year-old actor wrote:

We can make a pretty good tv show but can’t take a photo for shit. #season14

Which, fair. I mean, they all look like they’ve only just woken up to be quite honest. But maybe that’s what writing scripts for a hugely successful TV show does to you.

Glenn posted:

The boys are back in town. #season14

And Charlie posted a similar:

In a previous interview with The Wrap, the cast said they have no intention whatsoever of stopping at season 14 – great news all round!

Charlie Day explained:

You definitely get Season 13, which we’re making right now, and Season 14, which we’re contracted to do, and then beyond that, it’ll be up to FX.

I think 15 is the record for a comedy, so I imagine we’ll all want to hold the record for the longest-running comedy in America. Fifteen would be the record for the longest live-action comedy, so we’ll probably try and break that record if we can.

Incredible. Who else is going to be waiting (im)patiently for the gang’s return?
