Jack Maynard, the disgraced YouTube star who was forced to leave I’m A Celebrity (in case you didn’t know who he was), has been slammed for his apology video, which has been labelled as ‘ridiculous’.
Why? Because in the apology video he can be seen wearing and waving about a £10,000 Rolex, with many claiming he did so merely to flaunt his wealth in what was supposed to be a sincere apology.
In the clip, Jack can be seen sitting on a bed at his apartment in London, where he rocks back and forth with teary looking eyes and red, puffed up cheeks, saying ‘sorry’ for making homophobic and racist remarks in the past.
During the video, Jack says:
I’m so sorry to anyone that I offended, anyone I upset, anyone I made feel uncomfortable.
I messed up. I messed up. I’ve been really stupid in the past, I’ve written some bad things, some horrible things, some pretty disgusting things that I’m just ashamed of, just straight up ashamed of.
This is a video I’ve never wanted to have to make, I never wanted to feel like I’ve let you guys down so much through something so careless.
I was young, i was stupid, I was careless. I just wasn’t thinking. This was back when I’d just left school and I, I didn’t know what I was doing.
The video goes on, in my opinion for far too long, while Jack just repeats the same sort of sentiment for four minutes like an apologetic pull string talking doll.
A source explained to The Sun:
Jack’s apology may have seemed sincere enough to his fanbase, but others in the YouTube community weren’t as impressed.
They would never publicly come out against him, but there was certainly some debate behind the scenes about how sincere he came across.
Some thought it was inappropriate for him to be flaunting his wealth while trying to appear humble. Only time will tell if he manages to win forgiveness from the public as well as all the important names in YouTube?
While many of his fans took his apology as genuine and meaningful, many others weren’t as impressed.
Hmmm, what do you guys think?…If you care?
