It seems like James Corden manages to make headlines every week nowadays, but his recent rap battle with Anne Hathaway has proved to be one of his best and most hilarious scenes yet.
Introducing a brand new segment to The Late Late Show, which has just been extended until 2020, the 37-year-old TV presenter introduced the brand new ‘Drop The Mic’ scene to Tuesday’s show.
The new addition involves him having a rap off with a celeb guest, with each taking it in turns to rip each other a new arsehole – and if they’re all as funny as this one then we’re in for a treat.
Imagine if Comedy Central’s The Roast of… met with one of the rap battle sequences from 8 Mile and you’re about halfway there… Sort of…
While Anne took the piss out of James’s weight, the ratings for his U.S. show, and claiming nobody in America had even heard of him, James kicked back by abusing her British accent in 2011 film One Day, her inability to rap, and by arguing that Halle Berry was a much better Catwoman than her.
Of course, the barrage of insults at one another was definitely said with in good fun, but at times, nobody can deny that things looked a little bit heated – especially when Hathaway compared James’ body to a KFC bucket with a lot of extra breasts.
After this classic Drop The Mic debut, speaking for myself, I really can’t wait to see the next one.
I wonder if Drop The Mic could eventually take over from Carpool Karaoke – even when some of them are as good as this.
