Few characters from Game Of Thrones have made such an impression as Khal Drogo.
It’s even more impressive when you remember, as the epic programme approaches its eighth season, Khal was killed off in the first. Seems like only yesterday.
As Khal’s wife Daenerys subsequently goes on a pretty mega journey in the time after his death – literally becoming the mother of dragons, gradually taking over more and more of Westeros and shacking up with Jon Snow – it seems fans of the show still just can’t get enough of the original GoT power couple.
What makes Khal and Daenerys so much more lovable, of course, is that actors Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke are obviously such great friends in real life too, as proved once again when they were recently reunited in Ireland at a GoT cast party:
Captioning the heart-meltingly adorable moment, Momoa wrote:
Moon of my life @emilia_clarke every time I leave you my face hurts from smiling to [sic] much. I f*cking love you forever. Aloha j
While Clarke wrote:
FYI…This is the closest you’ll ever get to me attempting ‘that lift’ from dirty dancing. Yes, my man is sitting. Yes, there’s no lake.
And yes, I have no idea I’m NOT being raised above his head. (Id like to take a moment to thank alcohol for giving me courage to attempt this. Ever.)
Of course, a certain guy who knows nothing (especially when it comes to his true relationship with Daenerys…) couldn’t help but get in on the action either:
If reunions like this are anything to go by, it’s going to be a hell of an emotional rollercoaster when GoT finally comes to an end.
The show has messed with our heads and our hearts for the past seven years, and according to Emilia Clarke, the eighth and final season will be no different.
Throughout seven season we’ve seen the undead kill a dragon and reanimate it, a religious zealot burn a child to death, the worst wedding party ever, and Sean Bean getting his head lopped off – to be fair, we should’ve seen the last one coming.
However, Clarke, who plays Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen (etc etc…), has said her final scenes of the show ‘f*cked me up’.
The eighth and final season won’t be out until next year but during an interview for Vanity Fair, the Mother of Dragons gave us a clue about what we can expect.
Speaking about her final scenes on Game of Thrones, Clarke said:
It f*cked me up. Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is . . .
But before she could reveal anymore she stopped herself, a classic teaser tactic. Proof – just like the character she plays on the HBO epic – she is a shrewd tactician.
All we can do is sit back and admire her, and hope for more reunions with Jason Momoa!
