Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde are relationship goals, but seriously, how did that relationship come about?
Appearing on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the question naturally came up and Colbert was brave enough to suggest Sudeikis is punching somewhat. Colbert said, “You’re a funny guy and you’re a reasonably good-looking man. But she’s a different species.”
It was an accusation the We’re The Millers star barely wasted breath arguing against, but he did explain how he and Wilde came to be…
Sudeikis explained how he bagged a date:
I met her at a finale party for ‘SNL.’ We hit it off that night…I actually came off looking a lot cooler than I really am because I had heard through the grapevine, through mutual friends that weren’t exactly her best girlfriends that would report back, ‘Oh you know, I think she’s dating someone…’
So I didn’t make any sort of moves…I was just very, very busy with other things. And then next thing you know, when I stopped being busy, she stopped dating someone, and then it was off to the races.
Playing it cool and not rushing in seems to really work then.
Wilde has also previously spoken on those tentative early days of their relationship, but she suggests not only has Sudeikis got patience, he also has some game!
Recalling the same SNL afterparty Wilde added that Jason dropped this incredibly confident line on her.
She recalled:
He came up to me and he said, ‘Whatever you’re looking for, you don’t need it,’ and he walked away.
And then he didn’t even text for a month! Smooth AF.
The couple now have two kids, a son called Otis and a little girl named Daisy Josephine.
So you can meet your soul mate at a party, you just need to not come across like a drunken jackass and not be afraid of playing the long game.
