PAIs Keanu Reeves having one of the best year’s ever for a Hollywood actor?
Quite possibly, but then if you’re a successful Hollywood actor I’d imagine most years are pretty great, even the bad ones.
Still, Reeves is in the midst of a undeniable peak in his career, stealing the show in Always Be My Maybe and Toy Story 4, being a total badass in John Wick, and about to embark on the third instalment of Bill and Ted.
He’s also possibly one of the most respectful guys around at the moment, so it’s no wonder the internet is obsessed.
GettyIn fact, the internet loves Keanu so much, fans are petitioning for the actor to be named TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’.
It’s pretty self-explanatory really, as the petition states: ‘Keanu is the most wholesome person alive, make him the person of the year!’
The petition is gunning for 10,000 signatures, and at time of writing has received over 7,500.
Last year, TIME‘s person (or persons) or the year were ‘The Guardians’ – journalists who had faced persecution, arrest or even murder for simply doing their jobs as reporters. While the year before, it was given to ‘The Silence Breakers’, the figureheads of the #MeToo movement.
Speaking about the current Reeves renaissance during the premiere of Toy Story 4, the man himself told ET:
It’s been really nice and special for me. Just how well the John Wick film was received and then also recently with Always Be My Maybe and then being connected with CD Projekt Red.
I’ve just had the chance to be working with really cool people and be a part of really cool projects. And so to be here with Toy Story 4 is a lot of fun.
It’s nice when it’s nice.
We’re not the only people to notice the current obsession with Reeves, as EW also commented on the fact, throwing the term ‘internet boyfriend’ at the actor while he was on the red carpet.
The actor replied:
I’ve been what? I didn’t know that… That’s wacky. The positivity is great. It’s really special how [Always Be My Maybe and John Wick 3] have been embraced.
There’s also rumours Reeves could be the next name to join the MCU, and who could blame Marvel for jumping aboard the Reeves train?
