If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times – we are currently witnessing a Reeves-urgence.
Yes, the resurgence of Keanu Reeves is well and truly happening. The 54-year-old actor seems to be everyone’s latest ‘internet boyfriend’ at the moment because, well, he’s the whole package.
He’s proved his action chops in John Wick, his comedy chops in Always Be My Maybe, and his charming yet tender side in Toy Story 4. That, and the enticing promise of a new Bill and Ted film, are fuelling an apparent obsession with the guy.
It was also recently announced Reeves is lined up to play Johnny Silverhand in the new game Cyberpunk 2077, which will be released next April.
The John Wick star made an appearance on the Xbox stage at the E3 2019 Microsoft press conference in Los Angeles yesterday (June 9), where he announced he was stepping into the world of gaming.
Then, of course, there’s the evidence he is one of the nicest, most respectful men in Hollywood, and the often over-looked fact he’s been quietly financing children’s hospitals, and other worthwhile causes, for years.
Speaking about the current period of a major Reeves renaissance during the premiere of Toy Story 4, the man himself told ET:
It’s been really nice and special for me. Just how well the John Wick film was received and then also recently with Always Be My Maybe and then being connected with CD Projekt Red.
I’ve just had the chance to be working with really cool people and be a part of really cool projects. And so to be here with Toy Story 4 is a lot of fun.
It’s nice when it’s nice.
No wonder Marvel want him in the MCU.
We’re not the only people to notice the current obsession with Reeves, as EW also commented on the fact, throwing the term ‘internet boyfriend’ at the actor while he was on the red carpet.
Reeves replied:
I’ve been what? I didn’t know that… That’s wacky. The positivity is great. It’s really special how [Always Be My Maybe and John Wick 3] have been embraced.
Speaking on the red carpet about his Toy Story 4 character Duke Caboom, Reeves said his the toy’s physicality and tendency to strike a pose while on his motorcycle was inspired by his own ideas and enthusiasm when he met the team at Pixar. According to the actor, Duke Caboom is a ‘showman’ and a ‘daredevil’, but also carries a lot of Pixar’s signature emotion.
Toy Story 4 is released Friday, June 21, 2019.
