Over a decade since the leak or her infamous sex tape, Kim Kardashian has showed absolutely zero signs of shying away from the limelight.
In fact, not many people go on to become one of the most famous people in the world after such a tape.
And while she has admitted to ’embracing’ the tape in recent years, Kim is far more well known for her reality TV series, makeup lines and self-branding these days, rather than the scandalous reasons she rose to fame in the first place.
However, the sex tape is – unfortunately – always lingering in the background of Kim’s career.
Kim made the tape with her boyfriend at the time, Ray J, and she recently made a startling revelation about it on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
The sex tape with Ray J (real name William Ray Norwood Jr.) was made back in 2003, but it leaked online in 2007 – coincidentally the year Keeping Up With The Kardashians first aired.
Kim reportedly tried to sue Vivid Entertainment over the incident, but dropped the lawsuit and settled for $5 million.
And while that’s a considerable amount of money, Kim revealed the real reasons behind making the tape, and also the reason she got married to her first husband, Damon Thomas, in 2000.
Speaking her sister Kendall, and Scott Disick, on the reality show, the 38-year-old said she had taken ecstasy on both occasions.
She said:
I got married on ecstasy — the first time. I did ecstasy once, I got married. I did it again, I made a sex tape. Like, everything bad would happen.
Responding to Kendall and Scott’s bemused reactions, she added:
Absolutely. Everyone knows it. Like, my jaw was shaking the whole time.
Naturally, viewers of the show and fans of Kim Kardashian had very mixed reactions to the surprising news – some were shocked and disappointed, while others found the confession refreshing.

In 2012, while chatting with Oprah Winfrey, Kim talked about the sex tape, saying she was ‘humiliated’, but had learned to embrace it, according to MailOnline.
She said:
I’m aware that that’s how I was introduced to the world. It was a negative way, so I felt like I really had to work 10 times harder to get people to see the real me.
After divorcing Thomas in 2004, Kim was famously married to Kris Humphries for just 72 days. She then married Kanye West in 2014, and the couple have three children together – North, Chicago, and Saint.
