UniversalLove it or hate it, Love Actually is getting a sequel… of sorts.
The ensemble cast will return for a one-off red Nose Day sequel, which will pick up 14 years after the Prime Minister got to first base with his secretary on the stage of a school nativity.
The ten-minute short, titled Red Nose Day Actually, has been written by the film’s director Richard Curtis and will see many of the original cast members reunite, reports The Guardian.
GIPHYCurtis, who had his directorial debut in 2003 with Love Actually, said:
I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do ten minutes to see what everyone is now up to.
We’ve been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part – and it’ll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later.
GIPHYIndeed, many of the original cast members are returning – including Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Colin Firth, Lucia Moniz, Liam Neeson, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Olivia Olson, Bill Nighy, Marcus Brigstocke and Rowan Atkinson – to answer all our unanswered questions.
Emma Thompson, who played the long-suffering wife of the late, great Alan Rickman‘s character is not confirmed to feature in the sequel.
UniversalThis isn’t the first time Curtis has donated his efforts to charitable causes.
He explained:
Over the years I’ve enjoyed doing Red Nose Day specials on TV things I’ve worked on – Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley, and Mr Bean.
It seemed like a fun idea this year to do a special sketch based on one of my films, since Red Nose Day is now in both the UK and America.
We hope to make something that’ll be fun – very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day – and which we hope will help bring lots of viewers and cash to the Red Nose Day shows.

Red Nose Day Actually will be broadcast on BBC1 on Red Nose Day (24 March) in the UK, and American viewers will be able to watch on NBC to coincide with the US equivalent on 25 May.
