After the intensity of Endgame of Thrones©, we’re all going to need something light-hearted, kinda trashy and just plain, summery fun to cleanse our TV palettes.

So it’s with open arms (mostly) that we welcome the next series of Love Island. Can you believe it’s been a year since we were introduced to Eyal, the doctor one and, erm, the rest…

How times flies, because in just a few weeks the loved-up reality series will be back on our screens, as host Caroline Flack recently confirmed on social media, and we’ll have forgotten even more about last year’s contestants.

Taking to Instagram, the 39-year-old let it slip that she has just three weeks before her hosting duties resume for the show, so has been hitting the gym in preparation.

Flack said, as per DigitalSpy:

I’ve just trained with Bradley Simmonds and he put me through utter hell, making me do weights that I should not be lifting. But, he says we only have three weeks before Love Island starts, or for Love Island prep, so we’ve got to work hard.

But to be fair I feel more sorry for Bradley having to put up with my moaning than me having to put up with his training.

ITV hasn’t yet given us an official start date for the show, though the previous two series started in the first week of June, so it’s highly likely season five will do the same.

While it’s only a few weeks away, it seems there’s still time to apply for the show, just in case you didn’t already have summer plans. If you’re up for it, you can apply here.

A few days ago, Flack shared some images from behind the scenes of the Love Island prep, showing segments being filmed in front of a green screen, and a fair few different outfits she’ll be sporting.

However, just last month the host had to pull out of filming duties because of an unexpected medical diagnosis.

After waking up with ‘incredibly bad back pains’, Flack was told by an osteopath she had a ‘wonky pelvis’. Fortunately for Love Island fans, the presenter was soon on the mend thanks to a physio and a ‘bum massage’.

She then revealed she was off to start filming for Love Island 2019, which is exactly what we wanted to hear. Bring on the summer.

Love Island will air on ITV this summer.
