Sherif Lanre has been kicked out of the Love Island villa, it has been confirmed today.
The 20-year-old chef, from London, reportedly reached an agreement with ITV bosses to leave the villa after breaking strict rules.
His departure comes just nine days after he first entered the villa, hoping to find love – or lust – alongside his fellow contestants.
A Love Island spokesperson said in a statement provided to UNILAD:
After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.
The 20-year-old, who was coupled up with Anna Vakili at the time of his departure, was part of the original line-up this year.
After initially not getting chosen by any of the five girls in the first episode, Sherif was relegated to the ‘sub’s bench’ and subsequently paired with Anna.
Sherif said about his departure:
In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.
I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.
I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.
With Sherif and Anna appearing to get closer in recent days – even sharing a kiss on the terrace – the 20-year-old was hopeful his journey of love was only just beginning.
Although he confessed the kiss was ‘just a peck’, the chef admitted he was excited at the prospect of getting to know Anna more.
Although it’s not yet known why Sherif was booted from the villa, fans are hopeful the reason will be revealed in tonight’s show.
Obviously, viewers took to social media soon after the news broke, with many speculating what Sherif’s reaction might have been to receiving the news he’d be getting on the next plane home.
The most popular guess? ‘It is what it is.’ I mean, what else could it possibly be?
Sherif’s departure now leaves way for Anton to crack onto Anna in his ‘double A mission’, which had up until now been put on the back burner because of the couple’s growing closeness.
I bet he’s feeling pretty chived right now, ey?
