Good news for those who love nothing more than binging through a dark and dramatic TV series, full of supernatural elements and religious imagery.

Fans of Lucifer are set to get another descent into Hell, with the comicbook series getting renewed for a fifth and final season.

The length of this season is yet to be announced, however showrunners have teased that the ‘best is yet to come’ in the story of Lucifer Morningstar.

As reported by TV Line, showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich have given the following statement:

We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,

Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!

Speaking with TV Line last month, Henderson made the following comments about the importance of support from ‘Lucifans’ in getting a renewal:

The fan support is super-important, and in particular [the first] month is going to be crucial towards whether or not we get a Season 5, because they [at Netflix] are paying attention.

So far, the fan support has been amazing — everything you could ask for.

Modrovich added:

I mean, holy crap. It’s just been great,

I don’t know if I could ever handle it when bad reviews came or something, because I feel so spoiled and grateful right now.

Loyal Lucifans have taken to Twitter to praise their dark lord for allowing them another season before they have to say goodbye.

One grateful subject tweeted:

So thankful that the storytellers get to finish their vision. Have to admit reading the word ‘final’ was difficult to digest, but look forward to seeing where our beloved characters end up. Thank you @netflix for giving us another year.

Another devilish devotee said:

No show has ever captured me like #Lucifer has. It will be so hard to say goodbye, but at I am grateful we have one last season to look forward to.

Lucifer originally reigned on FOX for three seasons, before getting axed. However, much like with Brooklyn 99, fans were hellbent on saving this series and letting it reach a proper conclusion.

Fans campaigned for many months to save Lucifer’s soul, and their prayers were answered by resurrection specialist Netflix, who recently debuted its fourth season.

Never has the phrase ‘see you in hell’ sounded so inviting…

You can currently catch the first four seasons of Lucifer on Netflix.
