Mark Ruffalo Filmed Five Avengers: Endgame Endings Because He Can’t Be Trusted With Spoilers

Marvel Studios are keeping the plot of Avengers: Endgame as secret as possible, even getting actor Mark Ruffalo to film alternative endings because he can’t be trusted.

Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner and the Hulk in the franchise, himself admits he struggles to keep his mouth shut, so it is no wonder producers were scared he would let something slip.

The decision was made then to not only give Ruffalo an incomplete script, but make him film various endings too so he really doesn’t know how Avengers: Endgame is going to end.

Speaking to E! News, the actor revealed:

I shot like five different endings for this movie. I didn’t even get a whole script to this movie.

The script I did get had dummy scenes in.

One of these ‘dummy scenes’ saw Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, get married during the film, I would hope after the heroes have kicked Thanos’ purple ass.

Evans actually agrees with the decision Marvel Studios took to keep Ruffalo out of the loop.

In the same interview he added:

Mark’s a real liability. They have to throw Mark off the scent. You have earned no trust in the Marvel universe. You leak like a bodily function.

To be fair to Ruffalo though, Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man, is just as bad, which probably explains why they killed him off at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Ruffalo actually ruined the shock ending of Avengers: Infinity War a year before it was released, but no one noticed as everyone thought it was a joke.

Sitting down with Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine) at the D23 Expo in 2017, Ruffalo revealed all to Good Morning America.

He said:

Like every other Marvel movie, it doesn’t end well for the superheroes. Wait until you see this next one, ha — everybody dies.

Realising what had happened, Ruffalo then asked ‘can we rewind that part’ but luckily for him although the damage had been done, we all thought he was having a laugh.

But oh, how wrong we were.

Poor Ruffalo also slipped up at an early screening of Thor: Ragnarok, accidentally live-streaming the first 20 minutes of the film on Instagram Live.

He told The Late Show With Stephen Colbert:

So I went backstage, and I was doing the Instagram Live. It was fun and games and everyone loved it, and then I was doing the audience. And then they said, ‘Return to your seat, we’re going to start the movie.’

So I pushed the button, what you think is going to stop it. But then there’s another button to stop it… The first button just tells you to push the second button to stop it…

So I ended up shoving it in my pocket and sitting down and watching the movie. Well, it was live… It’s broadcasting the movie basically free to millions and millions of hopefully paying viewers.

Oops!

It was probably best then Marvel Studios did everything they could to ensure Ruffalo knows as little as possible about Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in the UK on April 25, 2019.
