Stan Lee’s cameos brought so much warmth and humour to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealing his affection for the world he helped write into existence.

Affectionately referred to as the ‘King of Cameos’, Lee appeared as excited by his superhero creations as the wide eyed fans packing out cinemas across the globe.

Although often brief, his cameos were always memorable, exuding the great comic book legend’s sense of fun.

From his oblivious music listener in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) to his alien barber in Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Lee’s cameos brought something truly unique to each movie, while making his distinctive presence felt.

Now Marvel Studios has compiled behind-the-scenes footage about the making of his numerous cameos, and will be releasing it.

It is anticipated that this footage could well be released as an extra feature once Avengers: Endgame is made available for home viewing.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said:

We’ve put a video together,

We’ve never done this before, a behind-the-scenes of every cameo. All the B-roll that was shot and his stand-ups there.

His passing was very emotional for all of us, but it suddenly all came back to me just when I watched it.

This special footage apparently goes all the way back to the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe era, with Iron Man (2008).

It was in this first installment that Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) mistakes Lee for Hugh Hefner during a humorous red carpet exchange at a Stark event.

Feige revealed fans will also be able to catch ‘the deleted cameo, the first cameo he did on Avengers’, where Captain America (Chris Evans) is given a dressing down by Lee.

In a touching reveal, Feige told Entertainment Weekly how actors were never disappointed when meeting Lee on set, who was always just as they hoped he would be:

The amazing thing is, just as you’ve all said, he said the right thing to the right person at all times.

Every interaction was what one’s dream interaction with Stan Lee would be.

Right up until the age of 95, Lee remained an active and enthusiastic member of the Marvel family, with his passion for storytelling inspiring generations of comic book fans.

His final cameo can be seen in Avengers: Endgame, signifying what many fans are regarding as the end of an era.

Avengers: Endgame hits theatres exactly one year on from Infinity War on April 25, 2019.
