Just one week left until Avengers: Endgame, and it’s getting pretty damn difficult for many people to focus on anything else.

Much like during the week leading up to Christmas Day, everything and anything all seems to link back to the big day itself. And it’s impossible not to shake a few of the boxes under the tree for clues.

Fortunately – or unfortunately depending upon how you look at things – Marvel have been keeping us tantalised with teasers of what we can expect from the most anticipated superhero feast of the decade.

Now a brand new teaser has hinted at a possible showdown between War Machine/James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and Ant-Man/Scott Lang (Paul Rudd).

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it snippet, War Machine can be seen landing to earth with a thunderous thud, scaring the bejesus out of Ant Man who had been sitting – apparently peacefully – on a bench.

After Ant Man clutches his chest and exclaims, ‘oh god!’, War Machine deadpans, ‘whats up, regular sized man?’

Watch the intriguing – and genuinely very, very funny – teaser for yourself below:

Could this humorous exchange allude to a potential showdown between the pair, or indeed to a budding bromance? Either way, this should no doubt make for a intriguing and fun dynamic as the action moves forward.

Interestingly enough, Lego have recently released a playset which pairs up Ant Man and War Machine minifigures, heavily hinting that the duo will share plenty of adventures together in Endgame.

Cheadle recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about Rhodey feeling like part of the Avengers team for the first time:

He’s now solidly one of The Avengers, and they are trying to pick up the pieces after the last movie. I think they’re all trying to figure out what they’re supposed to do, or who they are, or how they fit, or what they are. It’s a strain on the whole group […]

There’s definitely more of a feeling of belonging with them.

He’s not so much straddling one foot in the military. He’s much more on the side of The Avengers than he was prior.

I for one look forward to seeing Ant Man roasting War Machine right back round about this time next week. Eek, not much longer to wait now…

Avengers: Endgame hits theatres exactly one year on from Infinity War on April 26, 2019.
