Melissa McCarthy’s 75lb Weight Loss Photo Stuns Fans

Melissa McCarthy may be known as the bubbly character in such diabolical films as Tammy, The Heat, and Bridesmaids. However in recent pictures, McCarthy looks almost unrecognisable.

While McCarthy has claimed that her weight will eternally be going up and down, it appears she has lost her fair share of pounds at a gradual and healthy pace over the past year.

It has been reported the weight loss comes as she prepares to star in biographical drama Can You Ever Forgive Me? and while in essence true, it is also misleading as McCarthy has been losing weight over such a long period of time, reports Life And Style Mag.

In total she’s thought to have lost around 75lb. Wow.

Speaking to Refinery29, McCarthy explained:

I’ll be up, I’ll be down, probably for the rest of my life.

The thing is, if that is the most interesting thing about me, I need to go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up.

If I, off the top of my head, name 20 of the most amazing women in my life, it’s all shapes, sizes, ages, colours, jobs.

I can only go off my reality. What people pass off as ‘normal’, I just have to keep in my head that it’s bullshit.

She also explained that the ‘perfect’ figure is also a myth, explaining:

I know some of those women in those magazines, who get called perfect or whose butt is supposedly better, and often they don’t even look like that in person.

Her upcoming film, Can You Ever Forgive Me? stars McCarthy in the main role as Lee Israel, alongside Withnail & I actor, Richard E. Grant as her loyal friend, Jack.

Israel was an author who wrote books on high-profile women such as Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead, Estee Lauder and Dorothy Kilgallen.

As the publishing industry began to change, Israel was struggling to get any of her biographies published and her money was drying up quick.

After going broke and unable to afford her rent, Israel needed to make money fast and did so with her friend Jack who had recently got out of jail for armed robbery.

So what did Israel do? She began forging letters from writers, playwrights, and actors and selling them for a lot of profit.

Without spoiling the plot entirely for you – Israel ends up in a spot of bother, as I’m sure you can imagine, so instead of forging letters, her and Jack began stealing legitimate ones – which, of course, lands them in even more hot water.

FOX Searchlight Pictures

Fair play to Melissa McCarthy for the weight loss and perhaps even more so for her change in direction in film.

Can You Ever Forgive Me? is whole worlds away from her earlier works starring as loud mouthed diarrhoea pants Megan Price and title character Tammy in one of the most unwatchable films ever concocted.

God that was a dire two hours in the cinema.

Can You Ever Forgive Me? is set to be released on October 19, 2018.
