More than 250,000 disgruntled Game of Thrones fans are calling on HBO to remake season eight.
Over a quarter of a million viewers have signed a petition, which accuses David Benioff and D.B Weiss of ‘proving themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source materials to fall back on.’
It urges people to sign, and call on HBO to remake the series, because Game of Thrones ‘deserves a final season that makes sense’.
Since it began five weeks ago, season eight has received criticism on a momentous scale, with writers being accused of rushing the storyline in a bid to reach the finale in just six episodes.
Despite some incredible moments like Tyrion’s emotional goodbye with Jaime, or the drunken get together the night before the Battle of Winterfell, many fans feel they’ve been diluted by rushed plots, endless battle scenes and careless incidents like the coffee cup.
Many argued that Jaime’s romance with Brienne wasn’t given the chance to play out, and that transgression into full on Mad Queen was too out of character and rushed beyond belief.
Even many of the cast of the series have found it hard to hide their disdain for how the final season has played out, with a carefully crafted YouTube video showing various moments in which they’ve tried (and failed) to feign excitement about the finale.

Yep, some of the greatest actors of our generation can’t even pretend to be enthusiastic about the finale, and it’s painfully brilliant.
Emilia Clarke can be seen excruciatingly grimacing when Entertainment Tonight asked her if she’s happy with how things ended.
In fact, she pulled the exact same facial expression as we did when Bran’s battle with the Night King mostly consisted of him sitting under a tree in a state of trance.
Is it just me or does this clip of Peter Dinklage talking about the Game of Thrones finale look like a hostage video? pic.twitter.com/vQXZnqKWaA

And that’s before we get to Peter Dinklage, who can’t even harness an ounce of enthusiasm when he talks about the finale ending. Oh, we feel you, Peter.
Are they messing around or were the series of clips taken out of context? Perhaps, but they sure do seem a lot more damning when added together, particularly given the general consensus of disappointment.
Perhaps we should be on the look out for a few familiar names on the petition…
