Netflix ‘Promise Not To Make Anymore’ Episodes Of Good Omens In Response To Petition

Netflix has solemnly sworn not to make any more episodes of Amazon Prime’s Good Omens, following a petition calling on the streaming service to cancel the six-part series.

ICYMI, more than 20,000 Christians have signed a petition calling on Netflix to cancel the show, which is based on Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s novel, despite it actually being released on Amazon Prime.

Disgruntled Christians have claimed the fantasy series, which stars David Tennant as the demon Crowley and Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale, ‘another step to make satanism appear normal, light and acceptable’ and ‘mocks God’s wisdom’.

The furious Christians were rounded together by the Return to Order campaign, by the US Foundation for a Christian Civilisation, with more than 20,000 people signing the deeply flawed petition.

Now, Netflix has promised not to make any episodes of the series, which is pretty much the cherry on top of a perfectly ironic story.

Quoting a story about the petition, written by The Guardian, Netflix hilariously wrote ‘ok we promise not to make any more,’ proving just why we love the online streaming service so much.

While some (rather confused) subscribers seemed devastated by the news, others were highly amused at the channel’s commitment to satisfying its customers.

Meanwhile, others started calling on Netflix to cover lots of other Amazon things which I’m almost certain are also not in their remit..

Genius.

Their complaints include the fact God is ‘voiced by a woman’, Frances McDormand, and that the antichrist is a ‘normal kid’, adding ‘this type of video makes light of Truth, Error, Good and Evil, and destroys the barriers of horror that society still has for the devil.’

Gaiman responded to the petition on Twitter, writing:

I love that they are going to write to Netflix to try and get Good Omens cancelled. Says it all really. This is so beautiful … Promise me you won’t tell them?

Publisher and science fiction critic Cheryl Morgan added:

Miraculously God has already done it. Don’t tell them She put it on Amazon instead.

Good Omens is available to stream on Amazon Prime now.
