A brand new trailer for the highly anticipated It: Chapter Two has just dropped and it’s about as terrifying as you could have imagined.
With less than two months to go until the film’s release, horror fans have been waiting with bated breath, asking the all-important questions as they wait to see what’s in store for the sequel.
Will it be as scary as its predecessor? Will it be as bloody, as terrifying, as horror-inducing? Will it keep me enthralled in the same way the first did? The answer to all of those questions is, of course, a massive yes.
If you don’t believe me, check it out for yourself:
The trailer, which debuted last night (July 17) at San Diego Comic-Con, as per CNET, quickly reveals that most of the members of the Losers’ Club have somehow forgotten the horrors of Pennywise after moving out of Derry.
Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) never left Derry and so remembers everything, telling Bill (James McAvoy), Beverly (Jessica Chastain), Richie (Bill Hader), Ben (Jay Ryan) and Eddie (James Ransone) that Pennywise never stopped. ‘Something happens to you when you leave this town,’ he adds.
There are sewers and red balloons galore throughout the trailer, with Pennywise flying through the air clutching some in his hands during one terrifying moment. At another point, McAvoy runs through a funhouse to rescue a child who’s encountered the clown. Yikes.
The film follows on from 2017’s It, an adaptation of the popular Stephen King novel of the same name, and will continue the adaptation of the book.
The second chapter will be set in 2016, 27 years after the events of the first film, and will see the return of Bill Skarsgård as the horrifying clown Pennywise.
The official synopsis for It: Chapter Two reads:
Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, ‘IT CHAPTER TWO’ brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.
If you thought just because the cast are all grown up now that means there’s going to be less blood and gore, you’d be wrong. So, so, so wrong.
Why? Because writer Gary Dauberman has already confirmed Chapter Two has more blood and scares than the last film. Is that even possible? I think not.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dauberman said the film is:
Definitely bloodier than the first and it is just as scary, if not scarier. The two movies feel like a complete whole. This feels like a natural progression and extension of the first.
Jessica Chastain only backed this up when she told The Tonight Show about a scene in the film which has ‘the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film’. So, yeah.
Erm… does anyone fancy going watching it for me and just telling me everything that happens to save me from scaring myself to death?
Please and thank you.
IT: Chapter Two will float into cinemas on September 6, 2019.
