HBO/PAGame of Thrones fans assumed HBO had extended the series’ run after it released an Ice on Fire trailer this weekend.
Showing a vast snowy landscape resembling the icy peaks of Winterfell, the short clip was actually a preview to the network’s brand new environmental programme.
Ice on Fire is co-produced by Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio, an avid environmentalist, and is set to be an ‘eye-opening’ look at ‘never-before-seen solutions’ to climate change.

The melting of the world’s snow and ice has now triggered multiple climate tipping points.
The clock is ticking.
The new documentary, which was debuted at the prestigious Cannes film festival on Wednesday May 22, travels to the Arctic, Alaska, Norway, Iceland, Costa Rica and the ‘fire-ravaged ruins of Northern California’ to explore the devastating impact of melting ice caps.

DiCaprio said in a statement:

We wanted to make a film that depicts the beauty of our planet while highlighting much-needed solutions across renewable energy and carbon sequestration. This film does more than show what is at stake if we continue on a course of inaction and complacency — it shows how, with the help of dedicated scientists, we can all fight back. I hope audiences will be inspired to take action to protect our beautiful planet.
