Netflix smash hit Making A Murderer will return with new episodes, and Steven Avery’s lawyer is feeling very confident about her client’s case.

The streaming service confirmed earlier this week that new episodes are in production as they further explore the case of Steven Avery, and his nephew Brendan Dassey, who were both convicted of the 2005 murder of Teresa Hallbach.

Kathleen Zellner, who has represented Avery since January, has promised new evidence which will prove her client’s innocence.

In a statement to People Magazine, Zellner said:

The new Netflix episodes will reveal all of the new evidence we have developed to show Steven is innocent and was framed for a second time.

It isn’t the first time Zellner has confidently spoken of quashing Avery’s conviction.

Back in March of this year, she confidently asserted that her client would be ‘free in months’, with new forensic testing thought to be the key to his defence.

Zellner told Dateline NBC:

Generally, since 2007, there have been significant advances in forensic testing. The clearest way to do this is with scientific testing.

Am I going to tell you exactly what it is? I am not. But it’s been a long time. There was a lot of evidence that wasn’t tested.

The filmmakers behind the show, Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi, have also promised to continue working on episodes to keep fans up to pace with the case.

A statement from the pair read:

We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series. The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold.

In June, Zellner requested an extension to Avery’s appeal case which delayed it for 90 days to August 29.

By the sounds of it, she has a few cards up her sleeve to play against the state, but fans will have to wait, as no release date for the episodes has yet been confirmed.
