NetflixThere’s nothing we love more than sitting down to have our minds truly f*cked by a good old sci-fi thriller on Netflix, and the streaming giant’s latest addition seems set to do exactly that.
Thriller fans have been left shaken by I Am Mother, which follows the life of ‘Daughter’, a teenage girl raised underground by a caring robot called Mother, in a bid to repopulate the Earth after mankind went extinct.
However, their heartwarming relationship is threatened when an injured stranger called ‘Woman’ turns up with some pretty disturbing news.

Daughter slowly starts to question whether Mother is really the kind matriarch she always believed her to be upon hearing Woman’s message.
The film, which some have suggested is an alarming view into the future, has left baffled viewers concerned over the ever growing relationship between humans and our reliance on technology.
Ever since its Netflix release on June 7, viewers have been rushing to Twitter to share their combination of confusion, disturbance and sheer horror.
NetflixOne viewer wrote: ‘#IAmMother is disturbing and provocative. Some unsettling ideas are explored by this movie. Scenes between the robot and ‘daughter’ are beautifully shot.’
Another added: ‘I am Mother’ on Netflix blew my f*ckin’ mind. Scary because it’s a Dystopian AI future that humanity is headed towards if we aren’t careful.
I watched I am mother last night, & my mind is still f*cked from it,’ a third wrote.
NetflixThe dystopian thriller stars Clara Rugaard (Daughter), Rose Bryne (Mother) and Hilary Swank (Woman), and has been making waves ever since its premier at the Sundance Film Festival in January of this year.
So far, the film has received an impressive 90 per cent on movie rating site Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised for being ‘suspenseful, well-acted and intelligent.’
