Netflix has installed a healthy dose of nostalgia into our Tuesday by releasing the first glimpse of the eagerly anticipated continuation of Nickelodeon’s classic Rocko’s Modern Life special Static Cling.

The streaming giant took to its Netflix Family Twitter account to share the clip and reveal the classic will land on August 9.

Nickelodeon’s NickRewind account also shared the teaser trailer, writing: ‘Rocko is still living a MODERN life in the Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling movie coming to @netflix 8/9.’

The kids’ channel first teased the project, which was described as a ‘movie’ in July 2017.

The residents of O-Town, particularly Rocko, Heffer, Filburt, and Spunky brought multi-generational appeal to the Nickelodeon brand in the nineties through a successful four-season run.

In an interview with Vanity Fair last year, creator Joe Murray spoke of how he previously linked the show’s success with his then-wife Diane’s death by suicide, which took place in 1992, two months before production on the show begun.

He told the publication:

I kind of blamed Rocko for it. Even though it was a suicide. In retrospect, I don’t think that—but at the time I thought, maybe if I hadn’t done Rocko she wouldn’t have done that.

And there were times I would think, if this happened because of that then, well, Rocko better kick ass.

Rocko writer Martin Olsen said:

Rocko was about what children were actually going through, in essence: emerging into a very scary world.

Because the world is fucking scary.

Still, we can’t wait to go back to O-Town.
