One of the Made in Chelsea ‘stars’ has been slammed for ‘abusing animals’ after filming a particularly brutal scene recently.

Ollie Locke is in serious trouble with animal charities after he slaughtered a crocodile on TV, in a scene for the new celebrity version of The Island with Bear Grylls, The Mirror reports.

He reportedly jumps on the back of the croc and stabs it in the neck, although according to The Sun he looked ‘visibly uncomfortable’ during the killing.

Alan Knight, of International Animal Rescue, told The Sun: “I feel it is totally unacceptable to kill or abuse animals for entertainment”.

The activist claims the crocodile would have ‘suffered unnecessarily’ as Ollie wouldn’t have known how to kill it humanely, and he’s called on Channel 4 to pull the episode.

But a spokesman for the channel refuted these claims, saying: “Those on the island all received training on how to kill animals humanely and this was utilised properly in each instance.”

And this isn’t the first time Bear Grylls’ survival programme has come under fire, with animal charities slamming a scene where a group of women caught a sleeping pig and slaughtered it last year, the third pig killed on the show in just two weeks.

According to The Mirror, an RSCPA spokesperson said at the time:

The RSPCA opposes practices that cause animals pain, suffering or death in the name of entertainment. It’s unacceptable and could easily cause great distress to the animals. There’s no excuse for using animals in stunts that carry a high risk of them being harmed.

The new series is set to air in October, as part of Channel 4’s Stand up to Cancer fundraising programming, and will challenge celebrities to see if they can survive on a remote island for two weeks.
