Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones left fans furious as Jon Snow overlooked one very important character when he left Winterfell.
After The Long Night came to an end with the successful defeat of the army of the dead, episode four gave the characters the opportunity for a well-deserved celebration over their victory. But of course, being Game of Thrones, things didn’t stay happy for long.
Although the Battle of Winterfell is over and done with, the fight for the Iron Throne is still very much in play, and a teaser for episode five shows the army heading to King’s Landing to take on Queen Cersei.
Take a look here:
Jon looks ready for battle once again, however fans are furious that he forgot to do one thing when he left Winterfell; say goodbye to Ghost.
The loyal direwolf has been by Jon’s side through thick and thin since his very first scene on the show, and although some viewers worried the lovely creature hadn’t made it through the Battle of Winterfell, Ghost was spotted last night alive and well.
Following the Night King’s defeat, Tormund and the Wildings readied themselves to head back to the North, and Jon instructed Tormund to take Ghost with him, as the direwolf ‘belongs in the North’.
But despite the pair’s long history, Jon didn’t even give Ghost a courtesy ear scratch as he left him behind, leaving the direwolf to stare sadly after his master as he went on his way.
The beloved animal certainly deserved better, and many infuriated fans took to Twitter to share their frustrations towards Jon.
One account dubbed the scene the ‘saddest’ Game of Thrones has ever produced, writing:
Ok this might actually be the single saddest shot of the entire series.
While another condemned Jon for his actions:
I’m sorry but Jon did not even hug Ghost goodbye. He does NOT deserve to be King.
A third fan angrily tweeted:
WHY WHY WHY DIDN’T JON PAT GHOST ON HIS FURRY NOGGIN WHEN HE SAID GOODBYE WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON IN WESTEROS THIS IS NOT OK
Jon will certainly have to work hard during the next couple of episodes to win over the devastated fans! Hopefully Tormund will be a great new friend to Ghost and the poor direwolf won’t miss his old master too much.
We all love you, Ghost!
