Power Rangers was one of the most exciting TV shows to watch on a Saturday morning, even if it did cause parents everywhere to flinch at the violence.

My personal favourite OG ranger was sarcastic valley girl, Kimberly Ann Hart, aka the Pink Ranger, with her quippy comebacks and enviable gymnastic skills.

I was delighted to discover the original actress who played Kimberly, Amy Jo Johnson, has enjoyed a lengthy career as an actress and singer-songwriter; even making a cameo in the 2017 film Power Rangers.

However, many of her fellow Rangers have experienced unusual levels of tragedy, leading many to believe in a so-called ‘Power Rangers Curse.’

Compassionate, intelligent Trini Kwan, aka the Yellow Ranger, is a fan favourite; with her formidable martial arts abilities and passion for the environment.

However, the actress who originally played her, Thuy Trang, (apart from the pilot episode), died at the young age of 27.

Back in 2001, Thuy was a passenger in a car which plunged over a cliff after the driver lost control of the vehicle on a mountain road.

According to Comic Book, the Power Rangers Time Force episode Circuit Unsure was dedicated to the memory of Thuy.

Maurice Mendoza appeared in the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, playing likeable teen Richie.

There was a blossoming romance between Trini and Richie, however plans for a relationship storyline were chopped when Maurice quit the show in 1994, report RANKER.

He later passed away mysteriously at the age of just 39-years-old, having never worked on television again since his Power Rangers days.

Watch a sweet scene between Trini and Richie below:

Back in the early day of Power Ranging, fitness and fruit juice proprietor Ernie ran the Angel Grove Youth Center with hospitality and sound, fatherly advice.

Sadly, the actor who played Ernie, Richard Genelle, had health issues and left the show after four years.

His character was said to have headed over to South America to take up voluntary work, in fitting with his kindly nature.

Richard died aged 47-years-old following a heart attack

In Power Rangers Wild Force, Ricardo Medina Jr. played Cole Evans – the Red Ranger and confident group leader.

However, on March 30, 2017, Medina Jr. was sentenced to a six-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

He’d been accused of murdering his roommate with a samurai sword after they’d got into an altercation over Medina Jr.’s girlfriend being at their home.

According to the BBC, the roommate reportedly broke Medina Jr.’s bedroom door down, forcing the actor to defend himself.

Skylar Julius Deleon appeared in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers at the age of 14, after starring in a few commercials.

He was later accused of killing retired couple Tom and Jackie Hawks in 2004, for the purpose of stealing their boat and life savings.

According to The Telegraph, Deleon was also found guilty of murdering Jon Jarvi, of Anaheim, in 2003.

Deleon was handed the death sentence in 2009 and is currently serving time on death row at San Quentin State Prison.
