Ha! Bet you thought you’d be able to get through the week without seeing or hearing about Avengers: Endgame, but here we are.

If you somehow still haven’t watched the film, first I have to warn you that this article contains major spoilers. And secondly, I have to ask: ‘why?!’

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

Anyway, now that I’ve finished freaking out about the possibility of people having not watched probably the most successful film ever, I’ll get to the point of the story.

That being that Robert Downey Jr. has shared a hugely emotional behind the scenes video of his last ever day on set as Iron Man. Sob.

The video shows part of Downey Jr’s wrap speech, where he thanks the cast and crew for everything they’ve done for him before hugging everyone in sight.

Take a look below:

When you take into account the heartbreaking ending of Endgame (RIP Tony Stark), it can be assumed this video was the actor’s last ever time on a Marvel Cinematic Universe set. Which is just really, really sad.

Downey Jr. said:

I got a log of feelings, but I’m gonna take Chris’ lead and save it for Instagram. Thanks so much.

Whether he’s talking about Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, or another random Chris is anyone’s guess but the actor has stayed true to his word by posting a whole host of pictures and videos on his Instagram page since the release of the film.

The emotional video quickly went viral, amassing nearly four million views in just eight hours – a number which is quickly growing.

Many fans wrote underneath the video to thank Downey Jr. for his part in the franchise that means so much to so many people, with a lot of people referencing the emotional ‘love you 3000’ catchphrase repeated throughout the film.

While one person said, ‘team stark all the way, love your style rdj you were the heart of the movie,’ yet another thanked the actor, saying, ‘Thank You Sir for entertaining us for 11 long years’.

Brb while I just nip to the bathroom, I’ve got something in my eye…

You can watch Avengers: Endgame in cinemas now.
