This year’s surprising superhero icon Ryan Reynolds (We’ll never forget Green Lantern) has explained why his hit character Deadpool won’t be appearing in the upcoming finale to the Wolverine trilogy.

Despite rumours indicating the foul mouthed merc would be appearing in Hugh Jackman’s adamantium clawed swansong Logan, Mr Reynolds has denied claims he’s in the movie.

It had been reported that an individual with knowledge of the project said Deadpool had a scene in Logan, which would most likely become a post-credit scene, and unsurprisingly the web lost its shit at the thought of a cross-over.

However People Magazine’s sexiest man of 2010, Reynolds, denied his involvement in a tweet, posting: ‘Sadly, not true. Prisoner 24601 is on a solo mission.’

Logan director James Mangold, confirmed Reynold’s lack of involvement tweeting: ‘Deadpool ain’t in the film, pal. Keep backtracking’ and was later backed up by his leading mutant Hugh Jackman who simply tweeted: ‘What they said’.

Reynolds has since clarified his position on Deadpool appearing in the movie, basically saying he wants there to be a Deadpool/Wolverine cross-over but that his the Merc With A Mouth wouldn’t work in Logan.

He tweeted:

No. I want a Deadpool/Wolvie film. But Logan is its own unique & perfect thing. The Big Red Sh*t-Talker wouldn’t mix with the tone.

He’s not wrong to be fair, Logan seems to be all about pathos and the consequences of actions while Deadpool’s a little more irreverent.

I’m not saying it couldn’t work one day and they’ve definitely had some wonderful adventures together in the comics but I don’t think the time is right for now.

We don’t want everyone’s new favourite violent antihero stealing the spotlight from Jackman now do we?
