Ryan Reynolds Trolls Hugh Jackman After He Says Wolverine Will Return

Ryan Reynolds is well known across the Twitter-sphere for his sarcastic quips and hilar jibes at his celebrity mates.

The Canadian actor takes no prisoners, throwing out punches (not literal ones, obvs) to whoever falls into his line of vision. Mostly his wife, Blake, and best pal Hugh Jackman though.

This time, it’s Hugh’s turn again as Reynolds has taken umbrage to the actor’s refusal to partake in a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover movie, despite his own claims that Wolverine will return.

Taking to Twitter this morning (November 23) to make clear his feelings of disgust towards his fellow actor, Reynolds was on top form, hitting him where it hurts with a pun.

He wrote:

I see @RealHughJackman is no longer allergic to selfish.

The latest instalment saga all began when Hugh appeared on Sunday Today to discuss the possibilities of Wolverine’s return with host, Willie Geist.

The 50-year-old Australian actor started proceedings by announcing:

Oh, Wolverine will be back. Someone’s going to buy him, I don’t know.

To which Geist responded, asking ‘not you though?’ At this, Jackman replied by throwing cold water over any hopes of a Wolverine/Deadpool collaboration.

He said:

No, but Ryan [Reynolds] is relentless. He keeps coming back to me in all these ways, shapes and forms.

I just said, ‘You know, I just don’t think the world really wants to see Deadpool with Wolverine.’ Maybe a cameo from Deadpool? I just think it runs over it for Deadpool.

Clearly, Reynolds wants the two worlds to collide but Jackman’s having none of it. Having announced his retirement from the role last year, the actor is adamant that Logan was to be the last time we saw him as Wolverine.

Speaking to Variety about his decision to retire, the 50-year-old actor said he got his inspiration from Jerry Seinfeld.

He described how the famous comic told him why he ended his hit series Seinfeld:

He said, ‘I’ve always believed, you should never spend everything creatively because it’s almost Herculean to start up again. You should always have something in the tank.’

After speaking to the comic, Jackman decided to retire his role as Wolverine, and he hasn’t looked back since.

But Reynolds isn’t letting him off that easily, because where would the fun be in that? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the Canadian actor spoke about how much he would love a crossover.

He said:

I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend. He’s just the best.

I already miss him as Logan, so I’m one of those guys that whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together. It’ll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,’ and it’s always just me saying it.

To be honest, there’s nothing I love more than the thought of Ryan Reynolds, famous actor and all-round great human, being just as needy as the rest of us. It just makes him more relatable, y’know?

Anyway, despite my disappointment that we won’t get a Deadpool/Wolverine mashup, I’m eagerly awaiting the no doubt hilarious comeback from Hugh.
