*Cancels plans and buys a Cornetto*
You’ve got red on you. No not blood, the reflection of the Netflix logo loading as you frantically add Shaun of the Dead to your watch list.
Yes, that’s right. The British comedy classic has just been added to Netflix and it’s safe to say that the ‘Trending Now’ category is going to be the film’s new home on the online streaming service for some time.
Loved by a generation, unless you’ve been living under a rock since the film’s release in 2004 – chances are you’ll be all too familiar with the genius that cemented Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as two of Britain’s top comedic actors.
But just in case you need a refresher, or you’re one of the few yet to experience the brilliance of the Cornetto trilogy – which followed with Hot Fuzz and The World’s End – here’s what you’re missing out on.
Shaun’s dull life working at an electronics store is turned on its head when his home town is inexplicably overrun with zombies.
The 30-something, who has never really grown up and spends most of his time playing zombie games with his best friend and flatmate Ed, must rise to the challenge of protecting his girlfriend Liz and his mother played by Penelope Wilton.
Packed full of gore and comedy in equal measures, Pegg and director Edgar Wright – who collaboratively wrote the smash hit, discovered their shared love George Romero films – which really did pave the way for ‘the zombie’.
Just as violent as Romero’s, Shaun of the Dead revolutionised zombie films.
Working perfectly as both a horror and comedy, never before has a film managed to achieve completely terrifying while simultaneously providing sidesplittingly hilarious moments.
And now Netflix bingers can revel in the brilliant world of Pegg, Frost and Wright – over and over again. We won’t judge you.
Fans of the show have taken to Twitter to share their reactions to the news – and it seems the whole of the UK is pretty damn excited about it.

Although one Twitter user quickly pointed out that as one brilliant film from the trilogy has been added, another has been removed.

We’re going to the Winchester to have a nice cold pint and wait for this all to blow over.
