GettyAt the end of what has already been an understandably difficult week for One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, he performed on the X Factor in tribute of his late mum.
Tomlinson lost mother Johannah Deakin earlier this week after a battle with leukaemia aged just 43.
As reported by the Daily Mirror, Tomlinson debuted his new single Just Hold On, believed to be a tribute to his mum.
And when the cameras switched off Cowell was immediately on the stage to console the former contestant…

Cowell, whose own mother died last year, reportedly told Tomlinson:
Louis, what you’ve just done and the bravery that took – I just respect you so much as an artist and as a person.
Your mum was so looking forward to tonight and I know she is watching down on you now. She was so proud of you.
YouTubeThe song hasn’t officially been labelled a tribute to Deakin, but with lyrics such as ‘Oh until it’s all been said / It’s not over until your dying breath / So what do you want them to say when you’re gone? /That you gave up or that you kept going on?’ it is easy to see why links are being made.
Regardless what you think of the X Factor, or the state of the music industry, that will not have been an easy thing for Tomlinson to do. Fair play.
