It’s no secret that Avengers: Endgame is the movie of the year. Hell, it might even be the movie of the century.

Having smashed pretty much every record going in its opening weekend and then passing $1 billion at the box office in just five days, there’s no arguing the film absolutely smashed it.

So intense was the hype, one soldier risked everything to go and watch Endgame – resulting in him being arrested.

According to WowTV, as per Kotaku, 18 soldiers within the Republic of Korea Air Force 20th Fighter Wing left their base on Tuesday (April 30) for public service duty.

However, one of the troops vanished causing the military police to search for the missing soldier and causing quite a stir.

Rather than anything sinister having happened though, the soldier had just decided to take a break to go see the new Avengers movie. Yikes, what a time to do it.

The military police began searching for the missing soldier and tracked down a taxi driver who said he had dropped off a troop at a movie theatre.

Police were then able to confirm the AWOL soldier was inside the cinema and arrested him as he was leaving. Hey, at least they waited until the film was over.

The soldier said after he was caught:

I wanted to see the Avengers movie so I ran away from the site while we were standing by.

As the soldier left his post without gaining permission first, a South Korean military spokesperson is quoted as saying the incident has prompted an investigation.

The spokesperson added:

We will enforce our training so the soldiers assigned to public welfare activity can focus on their mission.

I mean, who can really blame the guy? The ‘grand conclusion’ to a total of 22 films – starting with Iron Man all those years ago – Endgame was definitely worth the hype it received.

And that battle! I won’t say anything, just in case you’ve managed to get to this point and still haven’t seen the film (why?!), but woah.

Anyway, I’ve had enough of writing about it now. I’m off to go watch it for the 749387943rd time. See ya.

You can watch Avengers:Endgame in cinemas now.
