Robert Downey Jr. was born on April 4, 1965 (happy birthday for yesterday, big guy!).
He is an American actor and singer, who enjoyed some success in his youth before going down a dangerous route of alcohol and substance abuse.
He has been drug-free since 2003, and is now enjoying a hugely successful resurgence in his career thanks, in no small part, to his roles as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes.
Between 2012 and 2015 he consistently topped the Forbes list of highest-paid actors in Hollywood.
For all the accolades and success though, it’s safe to say the pinnacle of his career is right here, right now, with his face Photoshopped onto old images of pin-up girls. Congrats RDJ, you’ve really made it.
He’s certainly a sight to behold:
Loving the casual lean on a grandfather clock, while holding a rolling pin no less! Crikey:
The beautifully edited pictures first came to claim internet fame a few years ago, when an 18-year-old called Alex Costello posted them on Tumblr. Now, however, it seems the pin-ups are making a comeback, because you can never have too much of a good thing.
According to the LA Times, Alex wanted to keep the tradition alive ‘for the enjoyment of the Internet’.
So, enjoy:
Look at him, playing his records without a care in the world:
As well as embodying Tony Stark so well all these years, RDJ is currently preparing for his comeback as Sherlock Holmes, alongside Jude Law as Dr. Watson.
Warner Bros. have announced Sherlock Holmes 3 will be out on December 25, 2020, nine years since the second instalment – Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, as Variety reports.
As of 2018, the box office gross taking of RDJ’s films comes to over $4.9 billion in the US alone. While the worldwide takings total over $11.6 billion, according to Box Office Mojo.
But look at him here seductively winking at you while on a tyre swing:
Before we see him as Sherlock though (and before any more pin-ups get made), we’ll be seeing RDJ very soon in – possibly – his final outing as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame.
The film isn’t even out yet, but already ticket sales have tripled those of Infinity War, with some going for $500 on eBay.
What’s the secret to the Avengers’ success? Definitely Tony Stark dressed as a pin-up girl. I’m willing to bet it’s how they defeat Thanos in the end.
Avengers: Endgame hits theatres on April 25, 2019.
