The Mountain Posts Hilarious Apology To Instagram After Killing Missandei

game of thrones' the mountain posts apology to missandeiHBO

If there’s one thing we know about Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane, it’s that he loves chopping off heads.

We saw it in the first season of Game of Thrones, when the giant character beheaded his horse in one fell swoop after he lost a jousting match. He would’ve then beheaded two more people – one of which being his own brother, Sandor – if The Hound himself hadn’t stepped in.

In the later seasons, though he’s undergone a strange physical transformation, The Mountain is basically Cersei Lannister’s personal bodyguard, obeying her every command without question. So it should come as no surprise really, that, given the opportunity, he would behead anyone Cersei asked him to.

In case you missed it – spoiler alert! – The Mountain gladly lopped off Missandei’s head in the latest episode of Game of Thrones, titled The Last of the Starks.

Though obviously sad – Missandei was one of the good guys, and everyone wanted her and Grey Worm to live happily ever after – it was quite a spectacle to see her disembodied head fall off the top of the walls around King’s Landing. Cersei sure loves a bit of drama.

Of course, The Mountain isn’t really a thinker, more of a do-er, and just does what Cersei tells him. Upon reflection though, it seems Gregor, played by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, does feel some remorse for what he did.

Taking to Instagram to post a picture of himself with Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei, he wrote:

So sorry. Cersei made me do it. Hope we’re cool!

Nathalie Emmanuel also took to Instagram to bid a fond farewell to her character, saying that ‘right now…. Missandei is sipping a rum on a beach somwhere in sky’.

She wrote:

It’s been one of my greatest joys playing Missandei of Naath… The quiet and kind translator. A brilliant woman who overcame so much suffering and found herself, her voice… and her one and only love. She represented so much for me, personally, that I have no choice but to carry the things she has taught me into my life going forward. Thank you to everyone who made it possible for me to play this part… this life changing part…

While Missandei may be gone, Grey Worm is still very much alive and angrier than ever. While some fans are calling out for the much prophesied Cleganebowl, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Grey Worm take vengeance on The Mountain himself…
