Cast members of the hit US sitcom The Office met up at the weekend amid calls from fans wanting the show to return.

Although the American version of the British comedy (of the same name) ran for a total of nine seasons, fans still want to see more from the staff of Dunder Mifflin.

A new reunion photo of the cast was posted on social media last night (December 2) and has sparked fans’ hope their favourite show will soon be back on the small screen.

The creator of The Office, Greg Daniels, hosted a gathering at the weekend which was attended by Angela Kinsey (Angela), Rainn Wilson (Dwight), Jenna Fischer (Pam), Ed Helms (Andy), Brian Baumgartner (Kevin), Creed Bratton (Creed), Leslie David Baker (Stanley), Paul Lieberstein (Toby), Oscar Nunez (Oscar) and Phyllis Smith (Phyllis).

Beaming at the camera for a group photo, several of the cast members shared it on their social media accounts for the world to see.

Posting the photo on Twitter, Kinsey said how good it was to see everyone, writing:

Some of the old gang got together today… it was so great to see everyone! I turned to Ed and said, ‘I feel like we are at a family reunion’.

He smiled and said, ‘We are’. Thanks Greg for hosting! For those who couldn’t make it… you were missed!

Now, admittedly, I only started watching the US version of The Office last week having previously ignored its existence because I adore the UK series.

And although I’m only a couple of episodes into season two right now, I can admit I was wrong in thinking it was pointless watching it as the writers take Dunder Mifflin in a whole new direction compared to Wernham Hogg .

However, while the show is funny, it still hasn’t won me completely over, but then again, it does have seven more seasons to do so.

But I can understand why people love it, so understandably they want to see more from their favourite characters in the future.

Luckily, many of the cast members have previously said they would be up for returning to The Office with Fischer telling The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year:

I would be honoured to come back in any way that I am able to. I loved playing that character and as long as Greg Daniels is the person in charge and the visionary behind it, then I would be absolutely up for it.

We just have to get Mindy [Kaling], BJ Novak, Gene Stupnitsky, Lee Eisenberg and Mike Schur to write some new episodes.

That show was so great because of the talent involved behind the scenes, not just on the screen.

John Krasinski (Jim) agreed with Fischer telling Ellen ‘I’d love to get the gang back together’ – so it could happen folks!

A revival or reboot is yet to be confirmed but don’t let it stop you from hoping for one!
