The world was pretty stunned when Hollywood nice guy Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson dropped that persona and fired shots at his ‘candy ass’ co-stars in Fast 8.

The former pro-wrestling superstar took to Instagram to put certain colleagues on blast as being unprofessional, with the rumour mill quickly throwing Vin Diesel’s name into the mix.

Vin promptly replied and the feud seemed legit – except now an ‘insider’ has suggested fans have actually fallen for a massive media ploy…

This is my final week of shooting #FastAndFurious8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. UNIVERSAL has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right. Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part?. Final week on FAST 8 and I’ll finish strong. #IcemanCometh #F8 #ZeroToleranceForCandyAsses

An insider told the Daily Mail that the beef is not all that it seems, but don’t feel too downhearted – we may get a bizarre WWE match out of it.

The ‘insider’ is quoted as saying:

They are playing a huge prank, and it’s all for publicity.

The Rock convinced Vin to amp up the drama between them so they could turn it into a WWE match to help promote the April 2017 release of Fast 8.

WWE love celebrity involvement at their biggest show of the year and WrestleMania 33 falls on April 2 next year – a mere 12 days before the release of Fast 8, so this could be legit.

The prospect has been met by mixed feelings from wrestling fans…

The polarity of the internet summed up neatly in two tweets there…

Meanwhile, there are no prizes for guessing who we’d expect to win any potential match between the ‘People’s Champ’ and Riddick.
