Game of Thrones fans waited six seasons to potentially discover the truth about Jon Snow’s parentage, but George R.R. Martin left a major hint over a decade ago.
As reported by Mashable, Martin hinted that Ned Stark was not truly Jon’s father back in 2002.
This wasn’t confirmed on the show until its epic finale, when fans saw Lyanna Stark hand her child over to Ned before dying in the Tower of Joy.
Martin shared the news with readers 14 years ago in a Q and A session.

Martin said while explaining how Tyrion, Daenerys, and Jon received their names:
Mothers can name a child before birth, or during, or after, even while they are dying. Dany was most likely named by her mother, Tyrion by his father, Jon by Ned.
