Ultimate geezer Danny Dyer has temporarily taken a break from his role in EastEnders to ‘sort his life out’.

The London lad who plays Mick Carter in the popular BBC soap will be off work for a number of weeks because producers are concerned for his well being.

Originally it was reported that Danny Dyer was taking an ‘enforced break’, but producers have confirmed it was not forced.

The Old Vic landlord was known to be a bit of a heavy drinker and was attempting to quit alcohol at the start of this year.

According to the Sun, producers of the soap were concerned about the 39-year-old’s behaviour at the National Television Awards where he was visibly drunk.

An insider told the Sun:

The producers are concerned about him for a number of reasons.

It was clear to onlookers he appeared very drunk at the NTAs. It is best that he takes some time out to sort his life out. He appears to be exhausted.

In response to this statement, a BBC spokesman said that ‘Danny is on a short break from EastEnders. This was not enforced by bosses nor has he quit the show’.

Danny has a contract with the show until October and is earning £400,00o per year from his role.

At the NTAs Danny held a glass of beer and said ‘I mean, I did try to give up drinking but, as you can see, I’m now sucking on a lager’.

John Partridge, Dyer’s former co-star, said to ITV’s Good Morning Britain:

I’m sure he’s under enormous pressure, but I’m sure he has a great response from people in the street.

I only had a very positive response – from the white van man to the 83-year-old gran.

But it is relentless, the schedule there can be relentless, and I should imagine if he has got any problems, or anything like that, to try and deal with life outside of that – when you’re there 12, 13, or 15, 16 hours a day sometimes – that can be difficult.

Not having the actor and father-of-three on set has reportedly been a ‘nightmare’ with scripts having to be torn up.

Danny joined EastEnders in 2013 and is looking to move on from the show, potentially taking on the lead role in Doctor Who or pursuing his life as part of the upper class after his recent revelation that he is related to royalty.
