This Is What The Stars Of Harry Potter Are Up To Now

Believe it or not, it’s been almost 15 years since Harry Potter first graced the big screen.

Not only does that fact make me feel extremely old, but it’s a testament to the fantasy series that it’s still being obsessed over to this very day.

With the sequel The Cursed Child previewing in theatres now and the spin-off prequel Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them coming to cinemas later this year, it just shows how much the films touched the lives of so many.

Especially when you take into account that it’s over five years ago since the massive film franchise came to it’s conclusion with the release of The Deathly Hallows: Part 2. 

So, with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at what 10 of your favourite witches and wizards have been up to ever since:

Josh Herdman (Gregory Goyle)

Josh Herdman has gone from Draco’s trusted and incompetent mate Gregory Goyle, to MMA fighter, after making his amateur debut back in April.

Having said that, Josh, 28, hasn’t ‘fallen out of love with [acting]’, despite not acting much since the last Potter film and he’s still regularly auditioning for parts.

Jamie Yeates (Marcus Flint)

Despite being a minor character and only appearing in The Chamber of Secrets, you’ll probably remember Marcus Flint (played by Jamie Yeates), purely for his teeth (which were the stuff of nightmares).

Although Flint was captain of his Quidditch team, you thought he’d never find any luck with the ladies. But pictures emerged of Flint, real name Matthew Lewis, 32, a few months back and he’s pulled a bit of a Neville Longbottom.

So it probably won’t surprise you that it seems he’s ditched the acting to take on the modelling industry instead.

Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)

You’ll probably all remember Ravenclaw student Luna ‘Loony’ Lovegood (played by Evanna Lynch) and her permanently surprised look.

She first appeared in Order of the Phoenix and went on to appear in the rest of the Harry Potter franchise, with J.K. Rowling describing her character as the ‘anti-Hermione’.

After the series ended, Lynch has since gone on to appear in a number of short films and theatre productions and is also heavily involved in charity work, which includes participation with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland and she is also on the Board of Advisors for the Harry Potter Alliance (HPA).

Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)

Neville Longbottom was the loveable Gryffindor classmate of Harry and the gang, who stumbled from one disaster to another.

So it came as a shock to most of us, how the actor, Matthew Lewis, had transformed into a rather handsome chap after his awkward teenage years.

Lewis is still acting now and has had roles in a number of BBC dramas, including Ripper Street and Happy Valley. He’s also had a recurring role on Bluestone 42, a comedy drama series about a British bomb disposal team in Afghanistan.

Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley)

Domhnall Gleeson took up the role of the eldest Weasley sibling, Bill, in the final two films of the franchise.

Since the last film ended in 2011, Gleeson has risen to become a Hollywood A-lister, with recent roles in the critically acclaimed Ex Machina, The Revenant, and now playing General Hux in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

He’s due to reprise his role on the dark side in the 2017 sequel, Episode VIII.

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)

He was the villain and arch-nemesis of Harry’s that we all loved to hate, Slytherin’s Draco Malfoy (played by Tom Felton).

Despite Felton now making music under the name Feltbeats, he has continued acting since his role as Malfoy, with roles in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

He’s also has starred in a number of films in 2016, including biblical drama Risen and action thriller Stratton: First into Action.

Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory)

Everyone will remember the amount of heartbreak over Cedric Diggory (played by Robert Pattinson) back in the Goblet of Fire.

He captained the Hufflepuff Quidditch team – playing as a seeker – and put his name forward to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. This is where he was tragically murdered by Peter Pettigrew with the Killing Curse.

Away from Harry Potter, though, Pattinson became kind of a big deal in Hollywood after landing the lead role as stone-faced vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight and starring in several other romantic dramas.

Emma Watson (Hermione Granger)

The muggle-born witch, Hermione Granger (played by Emma Watson), ended up being one of Harry’s most trusted companions during his ongoing battles with Voldemort.

But since Deathly Hallows Part 2, Watson has simultaneously studied at both Oxford and Brown Universities, and also become one of the series’ most successful stars.

She appeared in acclaimed drama The Perks of Being A Wallflower and The Bling Ring, and is set to play Belle in the 2017 reboot of Beauty And The Beast. Oh, and she became the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014. How has she found the time?

Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)

While Rupert Grint played the role of class clown and best friend of Harry’s, Ron Weasley, he appeared in Thunderpants and had a starring role in Driving Lessons alongside Julie Walters.

Since the Potter films ended though, Rupert has been involved in much more light-hearted productions, including the comedy Moonwalkers and Postman Pat: The Movie. Oh, and he spent some of his millions made from the franchise on investing in an ice cream van. As you do…

Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe)

After defeating Voldemort and the forces of wizarding evil as Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has since starred in a number of films and productions, many of them pretty bizarre.

He appeared in the 2013 fantasy horror Horns, and in this year’s Swiss Army Man he plays a farting corpse whose flatulence someone uses to jet ski over the sea. Totally standard behaviour. 

Still, that didn’t stop him from getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November last year.
