The television series is adapted from Terry Pratchett and Neil 1990 fantasy novel, and was released on Amazon Prime last month.

The six-part series, starring David Tennant as the demon Crowley and Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale, sees the two working together to prevent the coming of the antichrist and an imminent apocalypse.

Before Pratchett’s death, it’s alleged his last wish was for to adapt the novel they wrote together.

However, Christians rounded together by the Return to Order campaign, of the US Foundation for a Christian Civilisation, are calling for the series to be cancelled.

More than 20,000 people have signed the petition which says Good Omens is ‘another step to make satanism appear normal, light and acceptable’ and ‘mocks God’s wisdom.’

Their complaints include the fact God is ‘voiced by a woman’, Frances McDormand, and that the antichrist is a ‘normal kid’, adding ‘this type of video makes light of Truth, Error, Good and Evil, and destroys the barriers of horror that society still has for the devil.’

Gaiman responded to the petition on Twitter, writing:

I love that they are going to write to Netflix to try and get Good Omens cancelled. Says it all really. This is so beautiful … Promise me you won’t tell them?

Publisher and science fiction critic Cheryl Morgan added:

Miraculously God has already done it. Don’t tell them She put it on Amazon instead.

Brilliant.
