Just when you thought Tom Hardy couldn’t be anymore lovable, he’s only gone and story-topped himself.

An announcement today confirmed that Mad Max himself, 39-year-old Hardy, will be reading the New Year’s Eve bedtime story on CBeebies.

Bane will be reading You Must Bring a Hat by Simon Philip and Kate Hindley to the nation’s children during the traditional festive broadcast courtesy of the BBC.

Tom was joined by his dog Woodstock for filming and is set to appear on more CBeebies Bedtime Stories in 2017.

Needless to say, a lot of mums are very excited about the addition to children’s programming and have taken to Twitter to express their enthusiasm.

The dad-of-two will join fellow readers such as Isla Fisher, Maureen Lipman, Justin Fletcher, Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes in the series which airs daily at 6.50pm on the CBeebies channel.

Let’s just hope the actor, best known for his dark portrayals of film’s most notorious villains, doesn’t channel the Kray twins and Bronson or there’ll be many sleepless nights to kick of 2017…
