Netflix, you’ve done it again you sly dogs.

The entertainment streaming behemoth has just released the trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, and if the trailer is anything to go by the new fantasy series may well be worth a binge.

Check it out:

Admit it, you’re intrigued. Or maybe your childhood was kind to you and you were rightfully treated to the Jim Henson’s 1982 film, The Dark Crystal, and what you’re feeling, like me, is nostalgia and anticipation.

Returning to Thra, the new 10-part series will be available from August 30 this year, however as a prequel the events in the Age Of Resistance will take place before Jen, played by Stephen Garlick in the film, attempts to restore balance to the universe by finding a missing shard from the broken Dark Crystal.

The new series will combine visual effects with elements of puppetry which ring true to the 80s hit, which is a nice touch which will hopefully satiate current fans and new alike.

Netflix synopsis of the series is pretty short and sweet. It reads:

In this prequel to the fantasy classic, three young Gelfling inspire a rebellion against the cruel Emperor when they discover a horrifying secret.

TELL ME THE SECRET NETFLIX! Or I suppose I could wait like everyone else for August to roll around.
