Those of you of a certain age will remember the 90s cult-classic Tremors, starring the one and only Kevin Bacon.
For those of you that haven’t – I suggest you watch it, especially if the idea of worm-like monsters who are hungry for human flesh appeals to you!
In amazing TV news, it’s been revealed that a television show based on the film is in the works.
And as if that news wasn’t good enough, Kevin Bacon is going to be in it again!
The Tremors franchise produced five films so that’s a lot of episodes to make.
The channel ‘Syfy’ made the announcement, revealing that it had ordered a pilot for the series, with the role of Valentine McKee being reprised by Mr Bacon – who will also be an executive producer.
Speaking about the development Bacon said:
This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting.
I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years?
Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it.
Although Tremors was not a big hit when it was out at cinemas, it became a big hit for home-video (yes it’s that old), and tripled its box office revenue on VHS sales and rentals, according to IMDb.
The idea for the film came about when the writer, S.S. Wilson, was working for the U.S. navy in the desert.
Whilst relaxing on a rock he imagined what it would be like if something kept him from getting off it.

Bacon continued:
The thing is, to me what’s interesting about that guy is that he was doing nothing, working as a handyman and then because of this extraordinary circumstance, he gets to become a hero.
So, what happens after you’ve become an accidental hero?
Twenty-five years later – and that’s the thing we want to explore in this series.
If you like horror films, in particular, The Purge, Sinister and Insidious, then you’re in for a treat.
The bloke behind them, Jason Blum, of Blumhouse Productions is also involved with the project!
We can’t wait!
