HBOAs a big Game of Thrones fan, working at UNILAD is a somewhat perilous profession come Monday morning.
I have to pretty much duck and dive having to write any spoiler-worthy articles and as for using Twitter, well, I find closing one eye and scrolling fast is the only way.
Fortunately, I had the day off yesterday and my first port of call was to snuggle up on the sofa with my morning cuppa to watch what was perhaps the most divisive episode yet.
The simple pleasure of watching one of my favourite shows before being exposed to social media spoilers was refreshing, despite the hellish gruesomeness of the episode.
Enjoying a long awaited episode before others can shape your opinions and personal theories is a rare, modern treat, and one I wouldn’t take away from anyone.
And now disgruntled Game of Thrones can claim compensation of up to £100 from Endsleigh if they have fallen victim to spoilers.
Claimants will also receive a consolatory NOW TV pass so they revisit each of the eight epic seasons at their leisure.
HBOSadly, there are only a limited number of payouts available so not everyone will get the vengeance they seek. In order to be in with a shot, you will need to describe – in 100 words – how the plot was spoiled for you, alongside supporting evidence.
Head of marketing at Endsleigh, Julia Alpan, has given the following statement:
Game of Thrones is one of the biggest shows of the last decade and the finale promises to bring in some of the largest audiences on record.
With the show historically airing on US screens ahead of the UK, spoilers have always been an issue – so we wanted to address that head on with the first ever spoiler insurance policy, that will offer financial compensation for anyone whose day is ruined by an unwanted plot reveal.
Whether it’s a colleague at work who has stayed up and streamed the show at 2am, or a rogue news article giving away the story on social media – our Spoiler Cover will help provide consolation for fans who have had the ending revealed prematurely.
HBOThis competition closes Sunday May 26, with successful applicants being notified by Friday May 31.
