Ryan turned 41 yesterday prompting Blake to get him back for a birthday tribute he paid to her on social media back in August.

For her birthday, Ryan had posted a photo of the couple, cropping half of Blake’s face out and writing: ‘Happy Birthday to my amazing wife.’

The post was liked more than 1.4 million times but not to be beaten, Blake got the perfect revenge.

The Gossip Girl star cropped out her husband in a photo he was in with fellow Canadian actor Ryan Gosling taken at the Critics’ Choice Awards last year.

Happy Birthday, baby.

‘Happy Birthday, baby,’ she captioned the picture featuring less than half Ryan’s face. Boom.

Fans were quick to point out she’d definitely ‘won the battle’ with her post.

Earlier in the day, Ryan jokingly tweeted about his two daughters, James and Inez, attempting to surprise him on his birthday.

He wrote:

My kids tried to surprise me for my birthday this morning. I totally heard them coming and snuck out to start a new life somewhere else.

The couple, who married in September 2012, are well known for their humour.

While accepting his 2016 MTV Movie Award for Deadpool, Ryan said:

I want to thank my wife, Blake.

Everything I do is to make her laugh — especially the sex.

He also regularly has a good old laugh at the expense of his daughters, making them the subject of many of his tweets.

Ryan often makes fun of his parenting skills, and as anybody with a sense of humour would understand, they’re obviously a joke.

Yes that is right, Ryan didn’t really bury two-year-old James in the sand and pick her up the following day – what a shocker.

Lively told Glamour:

He may as well work for the Enquirer.

When he says ‘my daughter,’ he’s never, ever talking about her. Everything is a completely made-up scenario.

He’ll run them by me sometimes just to make me laugh. But oh, I’m so in love with him when he writes that stuff.

I mean, I’m in love with him most of the time, but especially with that.

And he doesn’t just keep it in the family either – in the past, Ryan has grilled Hugh Jackman – and we all remember that July 4 photo from Taylor Swift’s house, don’t we?

But he is also onside with the fans, so when teenager Gabbi Dunn revealed she had split up with her boyfriend just days after attending her school prom with him.

The teenager edited her ex-boyfriend’s face out of the prom photos and replaced it with a photo of Ryan’s face instead.

Much to her amazement, the Hollywood A-lister responded in the best possible way.

Urging Gabbi to go one better, Reynolds said:

We should photoshop me over his yearbook picture next!

Keep it coming, guys.
