Chris Evans Hints He’s Going To Die In Avengers: Infinity War

It has been no secret that Avengers: Infinity War is going to dramatically change things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There have long been rumours, influenced by several key Marvel figures, that one or a few key characters will be killed off during Infinity War and the second part which is still untitled.

It has also been previously confirmed the upcoming films will be the last for several actors as their contracts come to an end.

One of these actors is the heart and soul of the MCU – Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, the first Avenger.

Initially signing up to a six-movie contract with Marvel Studios, this was extended to cover seven films when Infinity War was split into two.

Although there has always been hope in many fans’ hearts Marvel would renew the contract, Evans has now officially confirmed he has no plans to return to the MCU following reshoots for Avengers 4.

In a new profile published in The New York Times, Evans made this crystal clear:

You want to get off the train before they push you off.

Of course Evans still has time to change his mind but it seems pretty clear to us we will be saying goodbye to him as the sweetheart Steve Rogers in 2019.

But what does this mean for Captain America himself?

Although it has not yet been confirmed, Evans leaving the franchise could mean Cap is the Avenger we will see die in the upcoming films.

Even though in the comics the death of Steve Rogers does not mean the end of America’s favourite hero, as other characters have taken up the mantle, fans are speculating the death of Cap will be permanent in the MCU.

Of course this has left many heartbroken on Twitter:

The Russo Brothers, the directors of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, as well as Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, have already warned fans heartbreak can be expected from the next instalment in the MCU.

We are now taking this to mean the death of Captain America.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige revealed:

The notion of an ending, the notion of a finale, became very intriguing to us, in large part because you don’t see it that often in this particular genre.

People always will jump to ‘death’. That’s not necessarily what we’re talking about. I talk a lot, because I’m a big-a** nerd, about Star Trek: The Next Generation, All Good Things.

That to me is one of the best series finales ever. That wasn’t about death. Picard went and played poker with the crew, something he should have done a long time ago, right?

I mean, I could always list off the characters that we’ve killed in our movies that haven’t come back, but the big ones, which I know they’re looking at…?

I would just say, yes. People need to be careful what they wish for.

Famously in the comic books, Thanos ends up killing everyone, so who knows which characters, apart from Captain America presumably, will be on his hit list for the film?

If you have been hiding under a rock the past few years then you have missed out on all the fun as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been crushing it with the likes of Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther.

Infinity War though is their most ambitious project yet with Marvel first teasing fans with big baddie Thanos in 2012.

The war is so huge it has been split into two with the first part of the film due to be released in April with the second half coming in May 2019.

Pretty much every single superhero ever featured in the MCU will appear in Infinity War including Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Black Panther, the Guardians of the Galaxy and so the list continues.

Fan favourites including Loki, The Collector and Pepper Potts will also feature and so there really should be something there for every fan.

Not only that, but the sheer magnitude of the movie means it may be one of the biggest ever in history when it comes to the box office.

We can’t wait to see it, even if it means the death of the best Avenger – Captain America.

Avengers: Infinity War will hit UK cinemas on April 26 and US theatres on April 27.
