Filmmaker Danny Boyle has stepped back from directing upcoming Bond movie, James Bond 25.

James Bond producers and current Bond himself, Daniel Craig, announced today that Boyle was leaving the upcoming project, which he was supposed to be directing.

Earlier this year, Boyle spoke to Metro US about the workings of the movie, explaining plans for coming up with the story.

He said:

We’ve got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away

Boyle is said to have quit the project due to ‘creative differences’.

The official James Bond Twitter account shared the news, writing:

Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25.

The 127 hours director has been a longtime fan of the Bond franchise, and even included Craig’s depiction of the spy in the London 2012 Olympics opening.

Production for the film has not yet begun, but is set to start in December this year with a UK release date of October 25, 2019.
